The Kuhls // UVPZ 6.30

9:30 // THE KUHLS

The Kuhls is the collaborative project of sisters Renee and Grace Kuhl, brought to life by their kickass monster-slaying,demon-defying rock band. Raised in Kansas, now based in Chicago, the sisters enlist their friends in some explicit urban guitar slashing while unconsciously maintaining a firm grip on their roots. Their first full-length album Holy Rollin was released independently in February 2013. Holy Rollin' features twelve songs that span the Kuhls' diverse sonic influences... 90s grunge/70s rock n roll/country western/girl pop all find meeting places in the songwriting of these Midwest-raised sisters."It’s a nasty bit of business, in the country-tinged rock ballad tradition of the Rolling Stones or Gram Parsons... “Holy Rollin’ ” documents the newfound grit in the guitars and vocals in songs both bittersweet and biting." - Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune "...an intriguing conflation of folk, country and rock that finds fresh ways to showcase that familiar combination." - TimeOut Chicago
